From this time on, the Westmead Children's Hospital has worked closely with key government agencies, non-government organisations and industry groups to advocate for legislative change to the minimum safety requirements and higher building code standards to address the problem.  

In 2013, the NSW Government passed the Strata Schemes Management (Child Window Safety Devices) Act, 2013 that legislated the requirement for all windows to have safety devices installed.
